Construction Schedule

We are getting closer each day to have the network operational!


Construction of 415 miles of fiber will take place in the 2011 construction season. Crews are currently out constructing the Northeast Minnesota Middle Mile Fiber Project. For information on the schedule or connecting your site, contact the Northeast Service Cooperative at 218-748-7609.



The Middle Mile project will enable last mile service provider and carriers the potential to connect to the project through Capitol IRU agreements. It brings fiber optics into unserved and unserved areas of the region.


The Northeast Minnesota Middle Mile Fiber Project is connecting critical service sites across the region including libraries, school districts, health care, state, county, city.

Having access to high speed broadband is critical for city halls and law enforcement facilities.

The project will change learning for students across the region with the opportunity to integrate technology into the classroom with acces programs including Compass Learning, Video Applications, Classroom Lecture Recording, Virtualization, Data collection and reporting, MSC Online.

 The Northeast Service Cooperative in Mountain Iron will become the regional datacenter for the first-class connectivity.
